Hier is een gedeelte uit een mailwisseling tussen een dierenarts en iemand met een idee:

Hi Dr. John: Well here is where I am coming from...If Laminitis is
the breakdown of...the collagen layer between the...hoof and ...."

then why could not a deficiency of Vitamin C cause the lack of
Collagen SINCE COLLAGEN CANNOT be manufactured without Vitamin C.

I know people will pipe up and say: Horses manufacture their own
Vitamin C...of course this has never been proven and also anything
at all can cause a Vitamin C deficiency; Wormers; Prescription
drugs...did you know even just plain hot water can destroy Vit. C?

So my theory is that one cause of Laminiis is a Lack of Vitamin C.

"C stands for Collagen"...@ $15 for 5 lbs. why not try it atleast?
any excess is just excreted out and can only help!!! Think about
it.-

In een latere mail wordt door een ander gevraagd of een gebrek aan vitamine C dan ook verantwoordelijk zou kunnen zijn voor het ontstaan van abcessen?
Denk eens aan de vroegere zeelui met scheurbuik en van wie de tanden uit de monden vielen?

Is er iemand die hier iets zinnigs over kan zeggen?
